What is Sjogren's Syndrome?

Sjogren's Syndrome is very poorly understood. It is known to be an autoimmune disease, which means that it's one of a great many poorly understood diseases -- the conditions that lead to autoimmunity are not yet well understood. Not only are the root causes of Sjogren's unknown, but there is not even worldwide agreement on the criteria for diagnosing Sjogren's Syndrome. Progress is being made, but consensus is elusive.

With that warning, here are links to some of the better descriptions of Sjogren's on the Internet:

Brief description of Sjogren's from the major USA advocacy organization, the Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation.
Comprehensive description from USA's National Institutes of Health
